Making music, K. Dineen's Way!

K.Dineen grew up passionate about music and it’s evident she can’t live without it! While she’s based in Arizona she’s originally from the east coast, born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Pennsylvania.

Sure you can go to K.Dineen’s Instagram and see she’s certainly living life and serving all the sexy, it’s more than evident this girl is about her music! Endless snippets of her tunes and beautiful covers are the prime findings. She’s clearly focused and passionate about her dream of singing and writing music.

One thing that can be said about K.Dineen’s music, is she definitely has a universal sound. Her diverse background has proved to make for a well-rounded artist with mass appeal. We’d be hard pressed to find someone that can’t find their groove in her sound. We also really appreciate the message she’s sharing in her music. K.Dineen is providing a clean and a "follow your heart" attitude in her songs and that’s always a good look.

This industry is no joke and you’ve got to believe in your heart and soul that this is for you. There will be haters and there will be challenges, but we think she’s got the backbone for it and taking her naysayers with stride. She's making music her way!

We look forward to more from her as she continues to expand her catalog and show us more of what’s she made of. We decided to get a little more information, direct from her, on how she got to this point see below for how that conversation went.

How and when did you start making music?

It first started with the piano, my dad put me in lessons when I was about 6 years old. From then, I just got the ear for music. I would take real songs and melodies and put my own words to it, that’s when I realized I had some writing abilities also.

Who were you early inspirations; have they changed since then?

Some of my early inspirations were Selena, half my family is Hispanic, so my grandma would always play her. I loved Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Alicia Keys, and Whitney Houston. Now that I’m older, and music has changed, I really like Jhene Aiko, Kehlani, Ariana Grande; they all have beautiful voices to me.

If you could work with anybody who would it be?

If I could work with anyone in the industry, it'd definitely have to be Post Malone. I LOVE him.

What do you like most about the industry?

I like how it gives you a platform to share your music to a huge amount of people, and be able to spread my vibes with the world. I also like how it’s a place to make a comfortable living while doing what I truly love.

What change would you like to see in the industry?

A change that would be nice to see in the music industry is not having the same song play on the radio 30 times a day. For two reasons. One, the songs that do play 30 times a day ARE good, but hearing them every day and every time you change the station just causes them to become annoying to me. Two, there are SO many good songs out there. I say give more people a chance and more variety to the radio scene.

What message do you want to send with your music?

I message I would like to get across to people who listen to my music, is don’t ever give up on your dream. Everyone out there who’s living their dream is a regular person, just like you and me. So, if someone else can achieve their goals, you can too. I also like to sing about love, that's what I’m passionate about and that’s real to me.  What's the biggest challenge you face as an independent artist?

One of the biggest challenges I face is probably the financial aspect. I don't have a label to pay for all my studio time, producers, music videos and all that comes with doing music. It is challenging at times to keep up with, but at the end of the day it’s well worth it.

What else would you like your listeners to know about you?

I want them to know, I really do appreciate every and anybody who takes the time to listen to me and give my music a chance. It’s something I’ve dreamed about since I was little, so I’m just on a mission to make younger K.Dineen proud of who she grew up to be.

Where can they listen to your work?

I make the majority of my posts on www.Instagram.com/_K.Dineen which have links to my YouTube and on Soundcloud @ _K.Dineen
