Dutch Young Cracked our Speakers and We Love it!

Thank you Dutch for giving us the exclusive interview!

1. How and when did you start making music?

I started writing music in elementary school. I wrote R&B songs for a little group I was in called the sweetie pies. Through life I developed a love for music by free-styling. By high school I was making beats and making songs.

2. Who were you early inspirations, and how have they changed since Then?

My early Inspirations came from all 90's. I had a young mother so she had all the latest CD's at the time. Missy Elliot, Arrested Development, Outkast, Aaliyah, Mary J, you name it she had it. In middle school I moved to ATL with my pops. I learned how to freestyle there and I started buying my own music. I fell In love with the stories of the Dirty South music. Goodie Mobb was the first CD I ever purchased. I loved Three 6, Luda, Lil Jon. In high school it got more lyrical. Fab, Hov, Em, Jada, Lloyd Banks. Smack DVDs.

3. If you could work with anybody who would it be?

Jeezy. One of my favorite rappers that's not a rapper.

4. What do you like most about the industry?

Today I love the freedom and access. You could tour the world without a radio hit.

5. What change would you like to see in the industry?

Too much music. No one cares about the time it takes to put into a body of work. now its just put that shit out and see what catches.

6. What message do you want to send with your music?

My message changes. I have mixtape series that are themed around my life but nowadays I just enjoy the music. I want to focus on enjoying the life you have and go for the goals you aspire to. I used to rap about how hard it was to live. Now I understand that I have a gift.

7. What's the biggest challenge you face as an independent artist?

Putting together a team. I don't like to do shit but make the music. I don't care about social media or being a character or brand or take pics every day. comment on shit the world wants me to care about. but that's what it takes to be a rapper. all of that before the skill and the art.

8. What else would you like your listeners to know about you?

Yo just know that I put out quality. I love this shit so much. I'll be creating until the day I die whether I "make it" or not. I'm a regular nigga wit a 9-5 just like you. I am you. A fan of the art. A fan of expression and real shit. I speak about life and I promise you'll relate. New music on the way
