Miss Jackson - Deeper than music

I am a 20 year old Singer, songwriter , artist . Born in Maywood Illinois & grew up in phoenix most of my life occasionally visiting home as a child.

How and when did you start making music?

I grew up around a very musically inclined family and instantly developed an ear for music at any early age. As i got older having an ear for music helped me recognize my other strengths . At the age of 8 I started singing in the choir at church, then as time went by i taught myself the piano and the drums, then gradually found my voice along the way , started recording , and picked up a love for rapping.

Who were you early inspirations, and how have they changed since Then?

Growing up i listened to a lot of Alicia Keys & Usher. My uncle Tim sang, taught himself to play the keys and created his own music in his home so that really got me interested in starting a process for myself. watching people go through their journeys who have true love for music & accomplish their goals is what inspires me everyday.

If you could work with anybody who would it be?

My number 1 inspiration . Kehlani

What do you like most about the industry?

I love how the industry gives artist the platform to share their gift with the world and express their experiences and trails they face through life. There's such a wide variety of talent in this world. To know you’re giving somebody hope or knowing your track is helping someone through a death, breakup, or even a celebration is just so powerful for an artist.

What do you hate most about the industry?

I hate how the industry can really bring the inner demons out of people. It feels like now a days it’s “survival of the fittest” when we can all acknowledge & contribute to helping one another eat. It’s like people are fighting to be the absolute best at the same thing when i thought being unique is what opened the door for most artist.

What message do you want to send with your music?

I just want everyone to know that you can be and feel exactly what you manifest.

What's the biggest challenge you face as an independent artist?

Being my own manager . You have to balance studio time, photo shoots, shows , music videos , budgeting , marketing & consistent decision making. Sometimes it can be a little overwhelming but knowing what’s up ahead for me has always kept me pushing on.

How do you overcome those obstacles?

I put all my frustration down in my music. In a lot of my music you'll hear me talking about a lot of pain in life & love experiences. Writing is a good coping mechanism & i've never had trouble pouring out my feelings on a piece of paper. If i'm not writing & making music , i'm more than likely listening to music.

What else would you like your listeners to know about you?

I  would like them to know I never gave up, things can only grow from here. Also,  New music & visuals are coming soon!! Stay Tuned
